This novelty song was written in 1914 by Arthur Fields and Walter Donovon, and first recorded that year by the popular music duo Collins & Harlan.
This became a hit when it was used in the 1950 movie Two Weeks With Love, which starred Reynolds and Carpenter along with Ricardo Montalban. In the '50s, Reynolds was a popular star in many musicals, including Singing In The Rain. Carpenter was a movie and TV actor, author and songwriter.
