In 2004, T.I. was sentenced to three years in jail for the crimes but was able to convert his sentence to a work release program shortly thereafter.

Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol' Dirty Bastardtakes an MTV news crew along for a ride in a stretch limo, where he stops to pick up food stamps, proving that the ID card on the cover of his solo album is real.
The stunt enlivens the national debate over welfare reform, as ODB becomes a high-profile case study on abuse of the system. He is eligible for the program because he has yet to file his tax return declaring income earned from his advance.
