R.I.P., Luke Perry
Luke Perry, who melted hearts in the original Beverly Hills, 90210—and more recently won over a new generation of fans as the moral compass of the CW’s hit Riverdale—has died at the age of 52, after suffering a stroke on February 27. Perry became a household name in 1990, when 90210 premiered and instantly became a global phenomenon; on the series, he played bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold Dylan McKay, who tangled with Jason Priestley’s Brandon Walsh for the heart of Jennie Garth’s Kelly Taylor. More recently, he starred as Fred Andrews—father of Archie Andrews—on the CW’s reimagining of the Archie Comics universe, a teen soap with more than a little bit of 90210’s DNA. This summer, Perry will also be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Charles Manson film Once Upon a Time . . . in Hollywood. The movie will debut later this year, and will be Perry’s last appearance on-screen; Riverdale has not yet revealed how it plans to resolve Fred’s story line on the series.
