On May 23, 1934, infamous outlaws Bonnie Parker, 24, and Clyde Barrow, 25 are gunned down by police officers in Louisiana. The couple and their “gang” had been on a years-long crime spree robbing banks and small businesses. They also are believed to have killed up to nine police officers as well as several civilians. Through extensive media coverage and the propensity of the pair to pose for pictures with their many guns, Bonnie and Clyde captured the public’s attention during the Great Depression. In 1967, a feature movie starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway glamorized the couple. |
