Inside Pose’s Searing Season Finale
After 10 episodes filled with glittery surfaces and deep drama, Pose season two came to a close on FX last night after making another big time jump. Upon leaping eight months into the future, the show reveals Blanca’s illness has gotten worse; she now relies on a wheelchair, giving viewers a visible reminder of her mortality. As series cocreator Steven Canals told Laura Bradley in a pre-finale interview, the first two seasons of the show form one cohesive chapter; the finale, he said, ties up threads that have been lingering since season one. So in some ways, Pose’s upcoming third season will be a fresh start—as hinted by the end of this week’s episode, when Blanca chooses to fill her empty nest with two new children, Quincy and Chilly. “We’re now sort of embarking on a whole new era for the House of Evangelista,” Canals said. “I think that will be exciting for us to explore moving forward: What is the new version of Evangelista, and how has Blanca’s mothering changed? How will it have evolved?”
Elsewhere in HWD, Yohana Desta breaks down Sony and Disney’s Spider-Man spat; the Simpson family celebrates 30 years on air by posing for their very own Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue–style illustration; Laura Bradley breaks down why Bachelor in Paradise’s same-sex romance is such a big deal; and Barack and Michelle Obama unveil their first Netflix project, the documentary American Factory.
