The tight knit Jewish community in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh is dealing with a tragic hate crime that took 11 innocent lives. Families of four generations have lived here, gone to school here and attended temple. 
ON THIS DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY
On October 29, 1998, astronaut and then Senator John Glenn returns to space, nearly 40 years after his historic flight when he became the first American to orbit Earth. Glenn was 77 when he was launched into space on Space Shuttle mission STS-95. During his nine days aboard the shuttle, Glenn conducted experiments on health problems associated with aging. Glenn, a decorated combat pilot, was among the first seven American astronauts.
India’s recent deportation of seven Rohingya men to Myanmar has triggered a panic among the country’s Rohingya Muslim refugee community. Since the seven men were deported in the past three weeks, many Rohingya refugees have gone underground in India and some others have crossed over to Bangladesh, fearing that they could be arrested, jailed or returned to Myanmar.
VIDEO: No one knows for sure when yaks were first domesticated, but it’s likely that they were first bred thousands of years ago as beasts of burden for the caravans of Himalayan trade routes. The massive hairy ox-like creatures are found in the high mountains of Central Asia, where they provide meat, milk, hides and labor. But yaks are increasingly finding new homes in America’s high country.
VIDEO: The land along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay has been sinking for centuries. And, as the sea level rises, salt water is seeping into the water table, deeper and deeper inland. The ground is becoming too salty for some crops to grow.
The opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) led by Nelson Chamisa on Saturday “installed” the 40-year-old lawyer as president of Zimbabwe, two months after President Emmerson Mnangagwa was declared by the Constitutional Court as winner of the country’s July 30 presidential election.
