Wednesday, March 2, 2011, was Celebrity Day during Pinewood Spirit Week so if you happened to visit Pinewood you might have thought you had stepped onto a Hollywood film set instead. You might have come across Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, Charlie Chaplin, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and many more superstars.
Later on the same day they had their own Pinewood stars performing on stage at their Grand Talent Show. The Student Council did a wonderful job of organizing the show and the performers were at their very best. The whole show was superb and Nick and the Backbone, the guest band, were fantastic. Students danced and had lots of fun. A huge “thank you” also goes to the five judges – Mrs. Ilonka Gkotzaridis, Mr. John Kay, Mr. Vasilis Bakopoulos (guitarist of 60s rock band, The Forminx, and grandfather of Pinewood Kindergarten student Vasilis Bakopoulos), Ms. Sophia Karakouta and Ms. Ornella Akrivopoulou.
The competition was fierce since all of the contestants managed to shine. Congratulations to the winners of the talent show for their wonderful performances.
The winners were:
1st Place – Nina Bustamante (dance/gymnastics)
2nd Place – Verity and Holly Kay (hip hop dance)
3rd Place – Andie Zelilidou, Chrysa Zelilidou and Theodora Pilitsis (Greek dance – Pentozali)
