On August 8, 1844, Brigham Young becomes the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church. Under Young’s leadership, the church would move to the Utah territory and found Salt Lake City. Today the Mormon Church is the fourth-largest Christian denomination in the U.S.
