Famed bachelor George Clooney is single once again.
A rep for the 50-year-old actor confirmed that he’s split from his girlfriend of two years, 32-year-old Italian actress and personality Elisabetta Canalis.
The couple says in a statement, “We are not together anymore. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.”
The couple went public with their romance at the Venice Film Festival in 2009, and since then there's been plenty of speculation about the future of their relationship.
A wave of Canalis' hand in April of 2010 had some convinced that Clooney popped the question - it was actually a napkin ring she'd placed on her finger as a joke, Clooney's rep said at the time.
Earlier this month, chatter circulated that Canalis reportedly told Italian magazine Chi that she was happy with Clooney but did see herself getting married in the future.
Last week, the two were seen sharing a meal in Italy.
