Apparently Dame Helen Mirren's royal invitation to Prince William and Kate Middleton's marriage got lost in the mail.
Really?
"No, I wasn't invited," Mirren told Andrea Mandell last night at an Oscar week kick-off party for the The Fighter thrown by by Vanity Fair, Chrysler and Tucker Tooley of Relativity Media benefiting Communities In Schools at District in Hollywood.
Isn't this the same woman who's scooped a BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Award for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen and was made a dame by the queen? "If I was I would go. But I won't be (invited)," said Mirren, her hands balancing a tray of appetizers as she navigated a crowd that included Gerard Butler, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Kristen Davis.
Champagne and red wine were passed freely at the soiree, where True Blood's Ryan Kwanten chatted up Mirren, Isabel Lucas and Malin Akerman. Nearby, Nia Vardalos was spotted jumping into a photo with The Fighter's Amy Adams (who spent much of the party schmoozing with her director, David O. Russell) and a late guest, Ali Larter. The new mom looked happy to have a night off of baby duty from three-month-old son Teddy. "It's my first night out with my husband so I'm just relaxing," she said.
