The White House is crawling with top pop stars and genuine Motown legends as Barack and Michelle Obama pay tribute to the music that was a big part of the soundtrack of their youth.
An impressive lineup of stars including John Legend, Jamie Foxx and Smokey Robinson will headline a Thursday evening concert in the East Room.
But first, Michelle Obama is hosting more than 100 students from around the country for an afternoon tutorial with some of the musical celebrities about the history of Motown and its influence on society.
Bob Santelli, executive director of the GRAMMY Museum, which helps sponsor the event, says that Motown's music helped to break color barriers.
