As the Grammy Awards geared up to honor the soul singer with a special performance, Franklin was keeping an eye on the red carpet fashion and eagerly anticipating the tribute from the comfort of her home.
"A friend of mine... made me a banana pudding and I was sitting right in front of my flat screen watching everything and loving it," Franklin said of the tribute, which had Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine and gospel singer Yolanda Adams take on a medley of Franklin's hits.
"I really loved what Yolanda Adams did with ‘Spirit in the Dark’ and Christina Aguilera was into it and Jennifer [Hudson] was good," Franklin commented. "Everybody was good!"
The Grammys overall, Franklin said, "were just smashing last evening. One of the greatest. The sets were phenomenal, the artists were fabulous, person to person – the flow was beautiful. I loved it all."
