On December 19, 1732, Benjamin Franklin publishes the first edition of Poor Richard’s Almanack . The books were filled with various kinds of information such as a calendars, weather predictions and astronomical information as well as sayings, proverbs and poems. The book was also filled with Franklin’s aphorisms and witticisms, many of which are still used in American English. It was published for 25 years continuously and was one of the most popular books in colonial America, selling over 10,000 copies annually. |
