Fans Can Officially Cast Their Vote for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

Let the arguments begin. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has officially announced the list of 2015 nominees for induction into the Hall of Fame. As in past years, this list includes an eclectic mix that is sure to have fans saying such things as “Why them?” and “It’s about time”.

The official list of nominees is:

“We are pleased to present this group of nominees, as they represent the myriad places where rock and roll converges with blues, electronic, dance, Motown, R&B, funk and other genres,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “Rock and roll incorporates the styles of so many different kinds of music and that’s what makes this group of nominees – and this art form – so powerful and unique.”

Eligibility for nomination is granted to those individuals or groups who have released their first single or album at least 25 years prior to the nomination year. This year, the cut off year for album release is 1989. Once the list is compiled it is sent to the international voting body consisting of over 700 artists, historians and members of the music industry.

As in the past, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will offer fans the opportunity to participate in the induction process. From Oct. 9 to Dec. 9, 2014 fans can cast votes of their favorite artist or group by going to www.rockhall.com, www.rollingstone.com, andwww.usatoday.com. The top five artists as selected by the fans will be made into a “Fans Ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballot in order to choose the 2015 inductees. In December, the inductees will be announced.

The next Induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland and presented by Klipsch Audio on April 18, 2015. Announcements of public ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
