On July 10, 1999, the largest crowd ever to attend a women’s sporting event watches the US women’s soccer team defeat China to win the Women’s World Cup. After 120 scoreless minutes, the game comes down to a 5-4 shootout. The match is played at California’s Rose Bowl with more than 90,000 fans on hand to watch the American team win its second Women’s World Cup.
