celebrated the Earth Day in Turkey

We celebrated 2018 Earth Day at Çağla Kubat Windsurf Academy with surf lovers, sea-loving locals and the Istanbul Technical University's Surf Club. What a day!!!! We discussed the problem of plastic pollution, created a personal action plan for helping reduce plastic waste and had a beach cleaning competition.

celebrated EU Natura 2000 Day and the European Maritime Days in Greece

EU Natura 2000 Day and European Maritime Days were celebrated on the island of Lemnos in Greece by interfering a wind of change in everyday life of islanders through the ‘Green & Blue Days 2018’  (19-21/05/2018).  By a series of experiential and participatory activities, MELTEMI enhanced the green and blue awareness and knowledge of the locals and the student community on the island, as well as of the 25 students of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (GR) that were part of the MELTEMI’s team.

Sea Routes 2018 Linking Islands, Ports, Villages and People

We have already been to Samothrace, Lemnos, Agios Efstratios, Lesvos, Chios, Oinousses, Psara, Antipsara and we are planning our itineraries for the Turkish coastline and the islands of Gökçeada and Bozcaada. We have created local synergies, recorded stories, visited  nautical museums on Lemnos Island and Oinousses Island,  the famous Masticha museum on Chios Island, the Museum of Democracy on Agios Evstratios island, the museum of Ouzo Barbayannis and the modern distillery on Lesvos Island. We have met producers of local products, visited farms and workplaces and tasted local products. We searched for the best spots for watersports, safe anchorages, and unspoiled beaches. Education I 20-29 July 2018

Meltemi is participating at the Summer School of Environmental Journalism on Crete island in Greece. The AUTh partners presented the Meltemi Project to the Summer School Participants, through a workshop presentation and to the general public, in a special awareness event about nautical tourism, blue growth and sustainability, which took place on the 22nd of July, in the Cultural Center of Platanias, on Crete Island.
