On July 5, 1776, the first printed copies of the Declaration of Independence, produced by Philadelphia printer John Dunlap, are distributed throughout the 13 colonies. Dunlap printed approximately 200 copies during that first run. About 26 of those original ‘Dunlap Broadsides’ still exist and are considered some of the most important archaeological artifacts in US history. VIDEO: A migrant mother was briefly reunited with her three children after losing custody of them when she illegally crossed into the United States. Yeni Gonzalez recently spent a day with her children at the New York facility where they are being held. She doesn’t know how long her children will be held there.
