Sam Altman is building his utopia — whether you want it or not.
In the past few years, the 38-year-old OpenAI CEO has become the frontrunner in the race to create an all-knowing artificial intelligence.
When OpenAI launched in 2015 with Altman and Elon Musk among its founders, it sought "to advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity as a whole." Altman, the former president of Y Combinator, seemed a particularly trustworthy guardian.
But as the success of OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT turned Sam Altman into a household name, some have begun to cast a wary eye on the tech visionary.
"It's Sam's world," said Ric Burton, a prominent tech developer, "and we're all living in it."
