A twenty- years study of historical sources, the tomb buildings, the skeleton bones and the burial artifacts of the tombs of Vergina undermines an historical error of facts concerning the identity of the dead kings at Vergina.
The detailed study of the ancient Greek sources concerning the tombs and the burial artifacts together with the conclusions of professors of Anthropology about the skeleton bones, the physiognomical features and the age of the deads, lead to the conclusion – however bold this might be considered- that in tomb II after 274BC under the reign of Antigonus Gonatas Alexander the Great together with queen Roxanne were buried while in tomb III their twelve years son Alexander D’. We have attended a very interesting presentation of the last book of General Triantafyllos Papazois, with the title “Alexander the Great with his family are buried in the royal tombs II and III of Vergina”. Nobody knows what the reality is finally. The only certainty is that the general for many years of his life has treated this work. He studied all the evidence in detail and he included them in this book published by his daughter Vicky. The reader is free to travel in history through the detailed description given by the late Triantafyllos Papazois. The only sure thing, however, is that he has disturbed the archaeological circles, since it has never been scientifically proven by archaeologists that what he has written is not so. History in the future will show us who is right and who is wrong. Until then, we want to keep dreaming and believing that Alexander the Great is buried in Greece and no archaeologist will ever deprive us of this.
