Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others are increasingly being held responsible for the content on their sites as the world tries to grapple in real time with events. From lawmakers to the public, there is a rising cry for the sites to do more to combat misinformation particularly if it targets certain groups.
ON THIS DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY
On April 26, 1865, John Wilkes Booth is shot to death by Union troops twelve days after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. After shooting Lincoln, Booth jumped from Lincoln’s box seat onto the stage, breaking his leg. He and his accomplice, David Herold, eventually made it to Virginia and received assistance from Confederate sympathizers. The two were eventually cornered in a barn on a farm owned by Richard Garrett. Herold surrendered, but Booth would not. Soldiers lit the barn on fire to flush him out, but he was shot while still inside.

VIDEO: President Donald Trump this week proposed new measures to crack down on people who travel to the United States on a visa and then illegally remain in the country after their visa expires. The new policy will punish countries with high rates of visa overstays, and will mostly impact African nations. 
In a historic move to bring back to Iraq the Yazidis kidnapped by Islamic State and taken to Syria, the Yazidi Supreme Spiritual Council announced it will allow children of Yazidi women raped by IS members into the community.
