BRINKLEY TO MAKE WEST END DEBUT

Former supermodel Christie Brinkley is to make her West End debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

The 57-year-old, who made her Broadway debut in the role earlier this year, will transfer to the London stage for a four-week run on 11 July.

She will be joined by Amra-Faye Wright, who has been playing jailbird Velma Kelly alongside Brinkley in the US version.

Jonathan Wilkes will also star as Velma's lawyer, Billy Flynn.

Brinkley, who inspired her then-husband Billy Joel's 1983 hit Uptown Girl, said of her transition into stage roles: "Billy always used to say I could do a Broadway musical."

The model began her career in the 1970s and became one of the most famous cover girls in the world.

She starred in the music video for Uptown Girl and first appeared on the big screen opposite Chevy Chase in the 1983 film National Lampoon's Vacation.

More recently she made a guest appearance in the US series Ugly Betty.
