Miami Beach doesn't want spring breakers. With the season in full swing, many young Americans are flocking to Florida. It's among the reasons the Sunshine State generates billions of dollars in tax revenue each year from tourism.
Though it’s unclear if recent shootings in Miami Beach are linked to spring breakers, Mayor Dan Gelber said he’s had enough with unruly crowds: "We don't want spring break in our city. It's too rowdy, brings too much disorder and is simply too difficult to police.”
Miami Beach isn't the only Florida city to quit on the spring-break crowd — and with the state's economy booming, it might be fine without them.
