Why? The Republican nominee has grown increasingly upset about Vice President Kamala Harris’s surging poll numbers and media coverage, The Post reported yesterday. One problem: His VP pick, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, is not doing well in polls. Other Trump news: He took a previously unreported private flight in 2022 with the leader of Project 2025, the right-wing project he has tried to distance himself from. What happened? Protesters repeatedly chanted about “genocide” before Harris hit back, telling them: “I’m speaking.” She also shut down “lock him up” chants about Trump. What happened? The shows were canceled yesterday after Austrian authorities arrested two people, accusing them of planning attacks on the singer’s shows and other events. What else to know: One suspect is a 19-year-old who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, authorities said. The first of Swift’s Vienna shows was scheduled for tonight. Read this story            A summer covid surge is hitting at least 84 countries. The uptick has sparked concerns about efforts to prevent the spread of the disease at the Olympics. At least 40 athletes have tested positive. What it means: It’s more evidence that the coronavirus bucks seasonal trends of other respiratory viruses. How we know: Since the water crisis in Flint, Mich., in 2014, some states and cities have tested water in schools for lead — a highly toxic metal. It has often been discovered. The concern: Children are the most vulnerable to the harmful effects of lead poisoning. Despite the danger, there is no national requirement to test drinking water in schools. What’s going on? The pair traveled on Boeing’s Starliner to the International Space Station in June — but it may not be safe enough to return them home, NASA said yesterday. What now? They may have to wait for a ride from Boeing’s rival SpaceX next year, even though the mission was only meant to last eight days. Boeing says Starliner is safe.
