| Protests against new tax proposals in Kenya turned deadly yesterday. |
- What happened? Police fired on protesters after thousands stormed Kenya’s Parliament and set parts of it on fire. Five people were killed and 31 injured, human rights groups said.
- What are they protesting? Tax hikes proposed by Kenyan President William Ruto. He has become deeply unpopular over the legislation, which has enraged the middle class.
