Hello, Insiders. Today’s the day Donald Trump has been hyping up. He’s going to be making a “special announcement” at Mar-a-Lago — and it’s widely expected he’ll be announcing his 2024 presidential bid. The event is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (of course, prime time), and comes just one week after the GOP underperformed versus expectations in the midterms. And it seems like Trump’s previously powerful support within the party is dying out.
In the run up to today’s event, some of his longtime allies are sounding less than enthusiastic. Rep. Mo Brooks said it would be a "bad mistake" for Trump to be the nominee. And when asked by Politico if he would endorse Trump 2024, even Sen. Lindsey Graham said, "Let's see what he says … I'll tell you after Georgia." So if Trump is doing what everyone expects him to do tonight, he might be going it alone in the GOP. Stay tuned.
