Prix CIRCOM Regional 2022 – Winners and Commended

April brought most expected news in the CIRCOM family – the results of the Prix CIRCOM 2022were announced on 13 April. The judging took place in Sitges, near Barcelona, Spain, from 4-7 April and was hosted by CCMA Catalonia.
With so many programmes of excellent quality and meeting highest professional standards it was not easy for the judges to take their decisions. You can check the Winners and Commended, as well as the full Jury Report detailing comments from the judges on all of the entries and the Co-Presidents' Report on the competition, HERE.
The party time is yet to come. The Prix CIRCOM Gala, when the best programmes and creators will be awarded and the Grand Prix winner announced – yes, in  person! will be on 26 May 2022 in Galway, Ireland. This will be also the occasion to honour the best achievements of Prix CIRCOM from two previous competitions – in 2020 and 2021.

Annual Conference 2022
With less than a month to the 38th Annual Conference of CIRCOM Regional the last preparations are underway. The Conference will be on 26 and 27 May 2022 in Galway, Ireland. It will be hosted by TG4, the Irish language broadcaster. The topic “Creative Regions, Creative Economies”includes sessions and discussions on the main challenges journalism is facing today as well as the road ahead for regional television media in Europe. There is the Meet the Winners, the sessions of conversation where one can talk to the colleagues who have done the best during the last year and won accolades at the Prix CIRCOM. Besides, there will be an opportunity to explore Connemara, the Wild Atlantic Way and the Irish culture.

Of Artificial Intelligence and of Real News
Recently our colleagues from NRK did very interesting researches on the impact of algorithms on news dissemination via digital platforms. They used bots to study how the Tik Tok social network to explore how algorithms serve audiences on both sides of the border between Ukraine and Russia. The research showed that while young Ukrainians get information predominantly about the war, young Russians enjoy “easy going life” content.
