Spider-Man’s Tangled Web
There’s a whole lot going on in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the fiercely guarded new superhero film starring Tom Hollandas New York City’s friendly neighborhood web-slinger. Richard Lawson can’t really get into it all in his new review of the film, lest he risk “violating a sacred spoiler oath I made in a secret bunker that only movie critics know about.” He can, however, say that the movie “handles this grand convergence of properties old and current with enough verve to almost sustain the long run of the film. But there’s so much brand Frankensteining to be done that there’s really no time for quirk and texture.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Savannah Walsh goes long with Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle about their decision to end PEN15;Ben Affleck chats with Paul Chi at the premiere of The Tender Bar; Katey Rich catches up with film legend and Search Party guest star John Waters; and Rebecca Fordinterviews the expert who helped the new West Side Storycorrect some of the original film’s representational sins.
