Dozens of corpses of Islamic State militants still lie where they fell in the battle over Mosul that ended last summer. In the final throes of the fight, Iraqi authorities tirelessly dug for the bodies of civilians. But they ignored the bodies of IS militants, saying they should be collected with the trash. VOA is on hand in Mosul as authorities finally begin collecting the remains of the IS militants while frustrated residents continue to feel neglected.

On March 5, 1836, Samuel Colt receives a patent for the first production-model revolver, a .34-caliber weapon. Colt never claims to have invented the revolver, but his use of interchangeable parts places him at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution because he is one of the first to use the assembly line efficiently. The patent gives Colt a US monopoly on the manufacturing of revolvers for the next decade. At the time of his death in 1862, Colt is one of the richest men in the country. At least 50,000 Twitter accounts have been linked to Russian propaganda efforts. As these ‘bots’ evolve and become more human-like, it’s harder and harder to figure out what’s real and what’s fake on the internet. That’s why a couple of college students have developed a program that lets Twitter users check to see whether an account on Twitter is run by a human or a bot.
Not everyone on the South Side of Chicago is sold on having the Obama Presidential Center in the neighborhood. The 21-acre campus in Jackson Park would include a variety of spaces for community use surrounding a large tower, which would house the Obama Presidential Museum. But 200 professors at the University of Chicago, where Obama once worked, have denounced the project’s location. And at least one of them, who considers himself an Obama friend, says the former president is ‘tone deaf’ on the subject.

VIDEO: Disabled young people in New York are able to score on the ice thanks to sled hockey. The Paralympic sport allows the kids to skate, pass, shoot and score despite any physical limitations. Players sit on a metal frame sled and use poles to push themselves and handle the puck. Aside from not being allowed to sled backwards, the rules are similar to ice hockey and the play can be just as rough.
