Reaching out to news avoiders
In late October CIRCOM Regional tackled head and front an important problem which media  nowadays face – the news avoidance. “Reaching the News Avoiders” webinar was innovative by its approach and tackling of the problem. Hosted by BBC producer & broadcast trainer Jules Hyam, and led by Emma Lofgren – editor at the Swedish media outlet The Local and the audience analyst at the BBC James Coatsworth, the webinar offered a comprehensive review of the problem. They looked in to reasons why people avoid news, what are the topics that are not interesting for the viewers. It turned out that local and regional news are still part of the flow of information that is interesting for the audiences and the users. An interesting and stimulating conclusion for Members of CIRCOM Regional! On the other hand, Emma Lofgren showed how constructive journalism may be used in the public interest and to attract audiences.
