Following the Royal Family’s summer retreat at Balmoral, we asked whether you thought Prince William, who holds the Scottish title of Duke of Rothesay, should consider wearing a kilt for his public duties in Scotland. King Charles is well known for wearing the traditional attire, but Prince William hasn’t been spotted in one since childhood. Many of you felt William should stick with whatever made him feel comfortable, including Kimberly from the UK, who said: “Nobody should be forced to wear something they don’t want to if it isn’t part of a mandatory requirement, the Prince included.” Karen in the US agreed, suggesting William should “wear what he feels is appropriate”. She added: “As long as he dresses and looks professional, people should not have a problem with it, including his beard.” But for some of you, tradition is key. Lowrie from Ontario, Canada, said William should embrace the kilt “at least while he is in Scotland… at a public appearance or appearances.” Jane-Anne from London, UK, echoed this, saying: “It is a tradition and should be kept going.” Meanwhile, Sharon from Ontario, Canada, thought of a compromise: “How about wearing tartan pants?” (They're known as trews in Scotland.) For this week’s question, what did you think of Catherine’s video and its strikingly different approach? Some viewers appreciated its intimate narration and stylised filming, while others accused it of being overly produced and disconnected from their own experiences with cancer. Did it resonate with you, or do you have a different perspective? Send your thoughts to royalwatch@bbc.co.uk. Please remember to include your name and which country you’re writing from. Keep those thoughts coming - we read every message! |
