Prix CIRCOM Regional 2024 – And the Winners are…!
And now – it’s celebration time! The jury of the Prix CIRCOM 2024 announced the Winners and the Commended in this year’s competition. We got 180 entries of high-quality audiovisual content from our members from all over Europe. The jurors had a hard time to make up their mind and decide, but these were rewarding efforts!

Of course, it is far from over! We all await the Prix CIRCOM Gala. It will be on 23 May and will be the culmination of the first day of CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference. This will be the great evening when we will hear the name of the Grand Prix Winner. The best of the best is selected among the Winners in 9 categories.
Annual Conference – The Topics
In less than 4 weeks we will gather together for the CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference. TVP3 Poznań, part of TVP, will host in Poznań, Poland, the flagship event for regional televisions in Europe. We will explore possible changes in the very foundations of journalism which may occur as a result of using Artificial Intelligence in our work. As news avoiding becomes kind of new phenomenon, good and effective storytelling is vital for regional public service media to preserve and further enhance the relations with audiences. It happens so that sometimes journalists are subjects to threats and trolling only because they are doing the right thing – we will look into this as well. Since we will be in Poznań, we will have the chance to get first-hand information about the changes in Poland’s media landscape. We will not keep a blind eye on the big themes. One is the war in Ukraine and the changes regional journalism in this country is going through. Another theme is the coverage of climate change – a complex problem that requires new thinking.

Training – Avoiding the Pitfalls, Researching the Future
The forthcoming European elections are an elaborate endeavour in many aspects and the regional television media are rising up to the challenges these elections pose. The possibility of rogue behaviour on cyber space brought forward the necessity to know how to tackle disinformation and misleading information. In April we had a dedicated workshop on fact checking and verification. It was held by Johanna Vehkoo, a leading expert from Finland. This training was hosted by Yle.
In late April we held the workshop Shaping Media for the Future – a most interesting joint effort of University of Vigo, Galicia, Spain and CIRCOM Regional to have a scientific approach to how regional televisions in Europe operate today.
