Training Week 8-12 March 2021!
Learning from a Global Pandemic” is a week of training and discussion sessions taking place 8 - 12 March 2021. With an intense schedule and diverse agenda, it will be an opportunity for members of CIRCOM to hear and share experiences during this extraordinary year. The week tackles everything from what we’ve learnt from Social Media to how audiences have changed; How well we’ve led our teams and how successful we’ve been in supporting mental health.
And as Neil Bennett, CR Training Coordinator puts it:
Sharing great ideas and solutions is at the heart of CIRCOM’s purpose. What better time to consider not only how well we’ve coped but also what we’ve learnt and can apply to the future”.
So, set the dates 8 – 12 March and register here. The registration deadline is 4 March 2021.
Prix CIRCOM 2021 - Don't Delay!
One month into the Prix CIRCOM application period, there is growing evidence that Covid has proved an impetus rather than an impediment for delivering quality media content to our audiences. The Prix competition is setting the benchmarks as always. Now is the time to step up, enter, and prove the value of your work – whether it is journalism or arts, VJ solo show or elaborate team work, investigation or entertainment.
Prix CIRCOM President David Lowen said: “Regional public service media has risen to the Covid challenge – and awards and rewards await those who win the Prix CIRCOM. Don’t delay!

Annual Conference postponed until 2022 but…
The regular CIRCOM Executive Committee was held online on 19 February. The key issue in discussion was when rather than whether our CR family will be able to return to normal pre-coronavirus activities. Holding the Annual Conference in presence in Galway, Ireland was postponed to May 2022 instead of May 2021. Fernando Ojea, the CIRCOM Secretary General, said:
We are grateful to our hosts from TG4 for being so reassuring in this situation and we do appreciate their flexibility to follow whatever CIRCOM decides. I think that we must keep our usual activities and meetings in usual times, but with everything being planned online”.

The Prix CIRCOM cycle follows its usual schedule – the judging will be in early spring and the results will be announced in due time afterwards (most probably in late spring). However, the whole process will follow the unusual practice of 2020 – both the judging and the announcement of the winners will be online. If the situation eases in the autumn CIRCOM plans to organize a small-size event or the Prix Gala in presence. Chances are not very big but it is worthy to work towards making it happen.

In the meantime, 2021 will be CIRCOM’s “year of online training”.

The Association’s steering meetings will stick to their usual dates – Annual Assembly is scheduled for 21 May 2021.
Mark the dates:
  • 8 -12 March: CIRCOM training week. Deadline to register is 4 March!
  • 19 March – deadline to submit entries for the 2021 Prix CIRCOM!
