Carpool Karaoke Debuts
2015Mariah Carey joins James Corden for the first installment of Carpool Karaoke.
It's a new segment on the Late Late Show where Corden drives singers around town (in this case, Los Angeles) and plays their hits on the radio, hoping they'll sing along. When Corden puts on "Always Be My Baby," Carey tells him, "I'm not singing today. I was up all night," but then starts belting it out. Bits of "Fantasy," "Vision Of Love" and "Thirsty" follow, with the host enthusiastically singing backup. Future ride-alongs feature Stevie Wonder, Carrie Underwood and Adele. "There's an ease and an intimacy to it where you'd never ever see stars quite so unguarded," Corden says of the segment's success. "Seeing a huge megastar sing their hits in the same environment that you and I sing in on our way to work - it's humanizing."
