Explore Magna Carta

On the 15th June 1215, at Runnymede, King John signed the Magna Carta - latin for 'Great Charter'. This document limited the power of the King of England and was also a peace agreement between King John and the English Barons.

On History Hit you can watch our two-part special series on Magna Carta, as Michael Livingston and Dan Snow explore how and why the Magna Carta was signed, and why it is still remembered today.

Both parts are available now, only on History Hit.
