Johnny Depp has a new “genuine connection” in his life—but it’s not another tabloid-ready romance, or a Hollywood relationship at all. As a new report from Vanity Fair’s Bradley Hope explains, Depp has forged a deep friendship with Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince and de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia. Depp says he’s found the opportunity to be part of a “cultural revolution” taking place in Saudi Arabia; friends of Depp are alarmed by the growing friendship. And with Saudi Arabia continuing to invest deeply in entertainment and court A-list stars, Depp, insiders say, is now weighing a seven-figure annual contract that would allow him to even further promote Saudi Arabia’s cultural efforts.
