Feeling Fantastic? |
After months, if not years, of rumor and guesswork from fans, Marvel has finally confirmed the casting of a new Fantastic Four movie. It’s a bold (and possibly risky) move; comic-book heroes aren’t the only ones who have lost some luster at the box office lately: The FF franchise has had a less than fantastic reception in theaters three times already. Today, VF’s Anthony Breznican explains the long, clunky history of a comic-book staple that’s never truly flown onscreen. The cast is certainly strong this time around: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Can a Fantastic Four movie finally work? Marvel legend Stan Lee once called the Fantastic Four “the fabulous framework on which the whole Marvel edifice was built,” and now Marvel has the cinematic rights back after 20th Century Fox made a couple lame attempts at a franchise. Our heroes will return in 2025 and fight everything—including the odds. |
