Enter Sandman |
When you hear that Adam Sandler is starring in a new Netflix movie called Spaceman, you might expect Rob Schneider to turn up as a mission control engineer, shouting, “You can do it!” across the cosmos. In fact, Spaceman is closer to Uncut Gems than The Waterboy—it’s a surreal drama, a somber meditation on loneliness, avoidance, and regret. Sandler tells Vanity Fair that he hopes viewers will be braced for what they’re getting into. “The trailer lets you know what the vibe of the movie’s going to be,” he says. “I don’t think it’s going to throw anybody off. Netflix is presenting it in a way that you know what’s to be expected—that it’s not a comedy.” |
