Lena Dunham Is Too Much |
Isn’t it strange that Girls aired its last episode in 2017—nearly 10 years ago!—yet we’ve all stayed the same age since then? Except for, perhaps, Lena Dunham herself. The archetypal millennial multihyphenate is making a major return to TV this summer with Too Much, a lightly autobiographical series about an American 30-something (played onscreen by Megan Stalter) who moves to London after an epic breakup, then immediately falls for a dashing British musician (Will Sharpe). David Canfield has an exclusive first look at the project, as well as a very entertaining interview with its ever-candid cocreator. “When I met my husband, I was dazzled by just how much baggage two people could bring to the table. It was almost like we had Mary Poppins bags. It was like, It’s still coming out, it’s still coming out!” says Dunham, a die-hard rom-com fan who in fact moved to London after breaking up with longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff and finding herself in a serious relationship with her now husband, Luis Felber. “I thought, What would it look like to try to situate something in that rom-com space and then be honest about all of the stuff that’s trailing behind them?” |
