- Yesterday: Trump delivered an unusually partisan speech at Arlington National Cemetery. In a post, he wished people a “happy” Memorial Day — including “the scum.”
- In related news: A rift within Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s inner circle is causing chaos. And morale is plummeting at the Department of Veterans Affairs ahead of staff cuts.

- The investigation: Police detained a 53-year-old British manfrom the Liverpool area, who they believe to be the driver. The incident is not being treated as a terrorist act.

- What happened? At least 25 people were killed at the school yesterday, Gaza officials and rescue workers said, with many more suffering severe burns.

- What’s that? The 1,500-year-old Bromeswell bucket. It was unearthed from an Anglo-Saxon royal burial site in England in 1986, and has puzzled researchers ever since.
- Until now: A new analysis revealed the bucket contained cremated human and animal remains — suggesting it was used to bury a very, very important person.
