ESSENTIAL INDUSTRY AND AWARD NEWS
XOXO, Tavi Gevinson
Tavi Gevinson has lived many lives in her 25 years: child fashion icon, celebrity blogger, media mogul, Broadway star. Now she’s starting a new chapter as a star of HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot. “My friend jokes that I walked so Barron Trump could run,” she tells Kenzie Bryant in a wide-ranging interview, conducted in the appropriately scenic sculpture garden behind the Brooklyn Museum. “At the same time that I’ve benefited from this cultural obsession with youth that became such a big part of my story, I feel very aware of the traps of it.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Savannah Walsh explains the latest drama in Bachelor Nation; David Canfield recounts a Directors Guild of America decision that could reverberate across awards season; Chris Murphy applauds a sharp Daily Show segment about critical race theory; and actor Allison Mack is sentenced to three years in prison.
