Why, exactly, did it take so long to finish the second season of Severance? Just ask creator Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller. The pair is aware that fans have grown impatient for the next chapter of their head trip of a drama. But as they explain to Anthony Breznican—in classic annual-review fashion—if they have one flaw, it’s perfectionism. “We do shoot pretty methodically, and we probably don’t turn around as many pages of script per day as a lot of other shows,” Erickson says for this exclusive preview of the sophomore season, which returns to Apple TV+ (finally!) January 17. “That comes down to just trying to make sure that we get it right.”
