- What to know: The anti-migrant Alternative for Germany party was leading in one state and running a close second in another, early election results showed yesterday.
- What it means: It’s the biggest victory for German nationalists since the Nazi era. But other parties have refused to cooperate with the AfD, so it’s unlikely to govern.

- Why? The population of Cumberland has dropped from nearly 40,000 in 1940 to less than half of that today. This scheme is part of an effort to reverse the trend.
- Interested? The program will give $10,000 in cash to 10 people, as well as up to $10,000 toward renovations or down payments. Applications will close after tomorrow.
