- What you’re looking at: One of two unfortunate people who probably survived the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. — only to be killed by an earthquake, a new study found.
- How we know: The skeletons had fractures resembling those of modern-day earthquake victims. So it seems that historically bad day was even worse than previously thought.
