A Hollywood Victory |
On social media, where so much of the messaging and energy behind the Writers Guild strike could be found for the past 142 days, the message on Tuesday night was clear: “We won.” The deal worked out between the WGA and the AMPTP, as Natalie Jarvey explains for VF, offers many victories to the writers, including data-streaming transparency, protections against AI, and minimum staffing for writers rooms. The contract will still have to go out to the broader membership for ratification, but in sharing the contract details the WGA declared the strike over—and declared victory too. |
