RTVC Canary Islands double mission of regional public service and worldwide coverage
The regular Executive Committee meeting was held on 22 September in Santa Cruz de La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain. It was hosted by RadioTelevisión Canaria - RTVC.es, the CIRCOM Regional youngest member. The EC meeting was a chance to get first hand information how RTVC coped with the coverage of the catastrophic volcano eruption on the island two years ago. The managers of the TV station on La Palma laid out to the CR Executive Committee how the media fulfilled its two-fold mission. First, and most important, was to serve the local community with extremely needed and timely information about the evolving huge eruption. On the other hand, while being a regional broadcast media, RTVC had to respond to the demand for news about the disaster from all around the world. This was a unique experience and the team of the station was up to the task. To meet the challenges, RTVC mobilized all their resources and relied to the support of dozens of contributors during the hardest period of the Tajogaite volcano activity.

Looking forward to the 40th Annual Conference next year in Poznań, Poland, the EC took the challenge to work for coming up with an agenda that is reaching out to most important issues regional media address nowadays.
Our 40th Annual Conference will be held on 23-24 May 2024.
Training programme – autumn of 2023
The training programme for the 2023 autumn continues the trend to combine new workshops for skills in need with formats that are well established and continue to be popular among the community of professionals in CIRCOM Regional.

After last year’s success of “Stepping Up - workshop for women leaders in media”, in October we will hold second seminar on the same topic. It will be hosted in Strasburg, France. Expected to attend are women in media who are either already in manager’s positions or are aspiring to become managers.
This training stands out of what we do in terms of vocational training. We use to focus on providing professional skills. With “Stepping Up - workshop for women leaders in media” we reach out to giving a stronger voice to women in media management. This is both recognition of the increasing role of women as well as broadening the scope of diversity and inclusion in regional TV media across Europe.

Further on we plan to have the third session of the Digital transformation workshop. We plan to look deeper in digital resources and how the usage of digital databases can be used two fields - for journalism purposes and to understand the audience's needs so that communication with users be more effective.
