CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference, focusing on Creative Regions for Creative Economies, will be on 26th and 27th May 2022 in Galway, Ireland, hosted by TG4. The discussions will touch upon key aspects of contemporary media production, both audiovisual journalism and entertainment formats. The years of COVID-19 pandemic have impacted societies as well as businesses. Media are not spared.  The session Sustainability of Journalism, while dealing with some of the challenges in news and current affairs, will talk about the New Deal for Journalism, a proposal how to build future relations between governments and media in order to secure viable independent journalism. The session Creative Regions, Creative Economies will combine both retrospective of creative industries and discussion on how to reach landmark achievements in screen industry. Do local stories get adequate voice on the news agenda, can Public Service Media give more relevance to local stories – these are only two of the talking points in the session Local News.  The session Public Service Broadcaster Prominence will take the discussion further. In an environment of multitude of platforms who curates the content? Is PSB content easily recognisable and accessible for audiences and what is the PSB remit?  Special attention – and a special session - will be devoted to young audiences. How do audiovisual media reach out to young people – in what format, on which platform, what is the key to successful communication with Millennials and Gen Z? Young generations are receptive to topics such as climate change, however it is not only them who are concerned about the environment. The session Reporting Climate will discuss how to keep viewers interest and engage audiences in this important aspect of our lives. All sessions will be moderated by experienced media professionals with huge background in areas of discussion.  The Conference will include also the Meet the Winners sessions. This format is a unique opportunity to talk with the authors of the entries that have won in their respective categories of the Prix CIRCOM 2022.
