George Clooney’s Plea to Voters
Growing up as a Democrat in Kentucky helped George Clooney get used to fighting impossible battles. With the presidential election fast approaching, the activist and actor—seen next in his upcoming Netflix film, The Midnight Sky—tells Anthony Breznican that he thinks progressives should not give up on fighting for deep red states, even if the challenge seems insurmountable. The gist of his stump speech: “It doesn’t hurt to lose. It hurts to not try.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Yohana Desta gets to the bottom of Eric Andre’s weird, wonderful eponymous Adult Swim show; Tracy Moore laments the protracted run time of The Vow; Michelle Ruiz tracks the rise of a singular Hollywood hot spot; and Richard Lawson claps, quietly, for the upcoming chess drama The Queen’s Gambit.
