- What for? Ripping apart prey. The endangered lizards, native to Indonesia, can tear apart almost any kind of meat — including 1,000-pound water buffaloes.
- How it works: Iron-enriched coatings on the serrations and tips of teeth keep them sharp. It could teach us more about how dinosaurs — like T. rex— devoured prey.
