Theo James Is More Than a Thirst Trap

If you watch The White Lotus this season, you’ve seen a whole lot of Theo James. Both in acting range and physical body. In the first episode of the season, he strips down in the hotel room of Aubrey Plaza’s character. “We’re all animals interested in the carnal and fascinated by desire—that scene was very specifically written and then talked about with Mike [White] and I and Aubrey,” James tells Vanity Fair. Sex and sexuality is a major theme in the show this season, and James is very deliberate about playing with his image as a hunk, forged in the fires of the Divergent series and other roles. VF’s David Canfield went deep with James on White Lotus and more.

Elsewhere in HWD, Everything Everywhere All at Oncecodirector Daniel Kwan today released two children’s books with A24. Think of it as Everything Everywhere, but with more parental angst and fewer butt plugs, and just as much multidimensional mayhem. Kwan sat down with VF to talk about his adventures in children’s literature. In other Everything Everywhere news, the movie took home the top honors at last night’s Gotham AwardsWill Smith stopped by The Daily Show last night in his first TV appearance since his infamous Oscars slap. “Hurt people hurt people,” he told Trevor Noah. Zoe Kazan has an awards campaign for She Said, a four-year-old, and a new baby. “It is a lot at once,” she tells VF on the latest episode of Little Gold Men, in the understatement of the century. Her partner, Paul Dano, is also on the awards trail for The Fabelmans. Find out more about Kazan’s experience shooting the real-life story and her family’s Hollywood history. All this and more, today on HWD!
