It’s crime time! From the glut of true-crime programming lately (hello to A Friend of the Family, The Good Nurse, She Said,The Watcher, and way, way more) to the finale of the fictionalized crime dramedy Bad Sisters, it would seem that Hollywood is out here looking to make a killing. The Apple TV+ show mines an often-ignored demographic—middle-aged women—and a decidedly unfunny situation—domestic abuse—and comes up with a compelling show that we argue is a must-watch. Go stream the series, then check out the analysis of the satisfyingly grim finale on Vanity Fair.
Elsewhere in HWD, one of those aforementioned true-crime movies, The Good Nurse, bows this week. Our Richard Lawson reviews the haunting, quiet piece of filmmaking, and finds much more than a case file there. James Corden has put egg-yolk omelets in the spotlight after he was called out by restaurateur Keith McNally for instances of alleged bad behavior in McNally’s restaurant Balthazar. Ahead of this weekend’s finale of House of the Dragon, Josh Wigler speaks to director Greg Yaitanes about what to expect in the big finish of the first season (we bet there’ll be dragons). Rachel Zegler stopped by for a photo shoot, and we’ve got your pass behind the scenes of the star’s day. All this and more, today in HWD.
